"One to Won" offers a preventative and proactive approach to reducing behavioral health issues with school-aged children. The presentation will also provide a look at what is new in Assistive Communication Technologies and how they can enhance the educational experience.

Kelly Carey, a certified School Psychologist, has been practicing in the Pocono Mountain school District for eight years and has 16 years experience working in the community mental health/mental retardation field. He was selected the 2006 Pennsylvania School Psychologist of the Year by the Association of School Psychologists in Pennsylvania. Mr. Carey currently serves on the board of directors of the Arc of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the advisory board of Parent of Down Syndrome of Lackawanna County. He is a graduate of Mansfield and Marywood Universities. Mr Carey offers a unique perspective having grown up with Tourette Syndrome and as a parent of a daughter with Down Syndrome.

Deanna Moerer, a Social Worker, is a graduate of Northwestern and Marywood Universities. For over eight years she has been with the Youth Advocate Program, a community based mental health agency that supports children with special needs and their families. Deanna helped design and coordinate project "One to Won" with the Pocono Mountain School District.

Cheryl King, a Speech-Language Pathologist, is a graduate of Marywood and Loyola Universities. She teaches at Marywood University and has been a therapist at St. Joseph's Center for 18 years where she offers assessment and training for various communication technologies.

Aimee Hendricks, a Speech-Language Pathologist, received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Marywood University. She is a full-time therapist in the St. Joseph's Center Outpatient Therapy Program.

Continuing Education Credits

Educators - This course is approved for three ACT 48 professional development hours for education.

Social Workers - This course is approved for three continuing education hours for social workers applicable toward PA/LSW licensure renewal.
